TF KnowNet aims to deliver a program where students, researchers and companies work together to mutually develop skills, promote and share expert knowledge through co-creating solutions to industrial manufacturing challenges; extending the established Teaching Factory (TF) paradigm on a network level, while combining it with Open Innovation practices, addressing the demands of both students and professionals. This will be achieved through a collaborative Knowledge Sharing Network of organizations (academia and industry) that can effectively exchange information.
The developed program can be used in two ways; on one hand as part of academic learning through virtual classrooms and virtual labs, exploiting the expertise and specialized equipment of each partner and becoming an inherent part of the qualification process, and on the other hand for professional learning, where it will be used for introducing RTD advancements to manufacturing practitioners and re-skill workers.
